Charles I. Cohen, a founding partner of Furr & Cohen, P.A., focuses his practice on bankruptcy and
family law. In addition, he specializes in commercial litigation and real estate law.
In the bankruptcy arena, Mr. Cohen regularly represents debtors in chapter 7 and 11 proceedings. Highly respected by judges and the bar, his clients include doctors and professionals as well as public and private companies. He also serves as counsel to the firm’s trustee in various bankruptcy matters.
Recently, Mr. Cohen represented the largest eucalyptus mulch grower in the country in a successful business reorganization. He also represented a high profile neurosurgeon in a bankruptcy proceeding that resulted in the discharge of medical malpractice debt.
Mr. Cohen’s family law practice primarily focuses on matrimonial dissolution. He is well-versed in recent changes to the bankruptcy code and how those changes affect divorce proceedings. Mr. Cohen additionally drafts and negotiates premarital and post-nuptial agreements.
A former assistant county prosecutor in Columbus, Ohio, Mr. Cohen established Furr & Cohen after several years in private practice. He is a frequent lecturer to various associations on the relationship between family law and bankruptcy law.
