A look back at 2015 divorces

In 2015, we saw a number of high-profile or celebrity divorces. Some couples, such as Sonni Pacheco and Jeremy Renner, had only been together for a year before splitting. Others, including Narvel Blackstock and Reba McEntire, were approaching 30 years together when they decided to end their marriages. Other famous couples seeking divorce in 2015 included Ryan Adams and Mandy Moore, Antonia Banderas and Melanie Griffith, and Brian Austin Green and Megan Fox.
The Internet collectively went crazy mid-2015 at the news that one of Hollywood’s oldest couples — Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog — had divorced. Miss Piggy reportedly told media outlets that the couple decided to split because they wanted to seek different things in life. Even though they were good together, she said, they might be great apart.
Sure, it’s a gag based on famous puppets, but we’ve learned a lot from the Muppet couple through the years. And this recent lesson holds true for many couples: Sometimes, divorce is the choice that lets both individuals seek the most out of life.
Even the Simpsons joined the conversation on divorce in 2015. Although Homer and Marge’s break up, which was traumatic for fans, was later revealed to be part of an elaborate dream story, it provides some basic truths for marriage and divorce, too. Couples have to work together to make a marriage work, but there is also some compromise and working together involved in the divorce process.
Another thing celebrity divorces in 2015 illustrated is that working together isn’t always possible because one person might not be reasonable. Famous or not, if you are going through divorce, then you have rights. Learn how to protect those rights and create stability for yourself through the legal system.
